This information sheet introduces considerations and phases for planning a digitisation project, including identifying your scope and aims, gathering information, making decisions, and implementing and documenting. 

It is designed to be read first within the Collection Digitisation series, followed by the Collection Digitisation – Workflow information sheet.  

Whilst this information sheet has been developed for organisations using Victorian Collections to manage and share their collections, the advice and principles are broadly applicable to collecting organisations.
